We just finished the coding of Yazmin’s new website and have fully trained her on the content management system. She is currently busy editing and adding content and the site will fully launch when she is finished. We will update this posting with live screenshots as soon as she’s ready but until then we are excited for her and can’t wait to see all of the site’s new content. Way to go Yazmine and DesignSolstice on this exciting new project!
DesignSolstice has jumped into the custom WordPress theme pool and the water is fine! Ok, maybe it’s just because it’s July and has been ridiculously hot for the last few weeks but it sounds awfully refreshing!
What’s the benefit of a custom theme? The client gets a completely unique website that matches their already existing branding while, at the same time, providing them with a website that they can easily edit the content. And it’s easy to learn too. Included in any custom WordPress site built is a training session for the client to learn how to navigate their new content management system.
How cool is that?
We have finished the first DesignSolstice version of the Polonus Bulletin! Polonus is one of our clients that definitely keeps us the busiest and we love them for it. Their Bulletin is published quarterly and is distributed around the world to the societies many international members. It is a clean, minimalist layout with 20 full color pages and we are super excited to have had our first shot at it go off with very few hitches!
A big thanks to the Polonus Publication Committee for all your hard work in compiling, editing and learning the DropBox software. Great communication was key to the project’s success. Lets get started on the next one!
Our own musical artist out of Brooklyn, NYC just finished up his photo shoot and so we are well on our way to finishing his new website! The shoot has a edgy, urban feel that will lend it self well to the overall site design. We’ll add one of the photos as a sneak peek when they are done with their touch-up!

Well, we’ve started the new year out with a few new projects, a few more clients and a lot of great design work. One of the best things we’ve done this year is really taken the time to get ourselves more organized and ready to manage our business pipeline more effectively. We’ve added some new Project Management software to our list of design tools and it had made a world of difference. The software is free and available at http://www.capsule.com
One exciting new partnership to come out of effective networking efforts is our complete media package for LEAF Lifestyles out of Los Angeles, California. The owner of LEAF, Luke Sniewski, approached DS with a design concept that just needed a little refining. LEAF (longevity, energy, athleticism & function) focuses on combining a healthy lifestyle and a successful career as the two can be mutually beneficial.
This October, we had our first official DesignSolstice company retreat in New York City. Megan and I spent a lot of time taking in the city’s many ‘must-see’ landmarks, but we were also able to get a lot of work in.
A few months back DesignSolstice was approached to participate in an event which featured 8 women venders in the area that owned their own business. We wanted to get our name out in the community. Read the rest of this entry »
Well, to be completely honest with all of you, we actually launched our site last week and this is the first chance I have had to say anything about it! the site has been months in the building and it is finally up and viewable by all. There are still a few inevitable bugs to be worked out, but Megan and I like to think of our website as a creative extension of ourselves . . . and as much of a work in progress as we are.
